The Original Giving Joe

"It is nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!"
This was a favorite quote the original Giving Joe lived by! His words still shape and mold our family to this day!
Dwight L. Craig, was more than just a devoted, loving father and grandfather, he was one of the most generous and giving souls to ever inhabit the earth. Without drawing attention to his actions, he would quietly buy breakfast for the homeless, make anonymous donations to struggling families at Christmas, or see to it that a child he had only just met received thousands of dollars of dental treatment to relieve her constant pain.
On October 31, 2005, Papa, as he was known by our family, had decided to stay back and pass out Halloween candy while the rest of the family loaded the hay ride to take the grand kids trick-or-treating. A few hours later, Papa called his daughter to let her know the house was on fire and then made the fatal decision to go back inside. Whether he went back to rescue Rosie, the family's dog, or to try to extinguish the flames, we will never know, but until his last moment on earth, Papa was giving every bit of himself to someone in need.
You may have realized that JOE is an acronym meaning Join Our Efforts and we sincerely hope that you will participate in GivingJoe.com so that we may give to those in need. Our personal Giving Joe, however, will forever remind us that there is always someone less fortunate than ourselves and our role in life is to give what we can.
It is for this reason that GivingJoe.com is dedicated to Papa, may his memory and lessons in life continue to change the world!
