FAQ

How does GivingJoe Work?

What if there was a way that your patrons were able to count their dollar twice.  Heck, how about three or four times?  What if a purchase a family already planned to make could support your organization, help a child go to college and actually put money aside for their own family’s continuing education?  Wouldn’t that be something worth looking into?  Well look no further, as GivingJoe offers this very opportunity.  Simply by registering your organization and encouraging your supporters to visit the GivingJoe site before heading to their favorite online merchant, your patron’s dollar will begin to stretch and provide much more than just for the goods consumers purchase.  Click here for more details about GivingJoe and how our program works for you!

What is the difference between GivingJoe and some of the other companies offering a similar opportunity?

Online shopping incentive programs are nothing new.  There are literally thousands of very successful reward programs in place.  As a matter of fact, there are many other donation sites that deliver a similar, if not the exact same donation GivingJoe provides to our non-profit organizations.  Our business model is what sets us apart.  Click here for more detailed information about the GivingJoe difference!

Is this similar to the "red card" program at Target and other stores?

Absolutely.  Many merchants have realized that the importance of a patron loyalty program and have offered incentive programs to raise funds for organizations and educational institutions.  GivingJoe, however, opens the door to hundreds of new merchants rather than relying on one specific store.

How does my organization sign up?

It is easy and absolutely free to become an GivingJoe organization.  Simply click this link to be taken to the Organization Application. To be eligible for tax exempt donations, your organization must be a recognized 501c3, church or educational institution and cannot be a for profit company.  Donations to Organizations that do not meet this criteria will be taxed accordingly to government regulations.

Where does GivingJoe get the money?

GivingJoe maintains an agreement with each of the merchants you see listed on our site.  When one of our links is used to generate a qualified sale for one of these merchants, we are compensated with a pre-established commission.  We, in turn, distribute this compensation to our registered organizations, our student Marketing Associates, our Change the Future education reimbursement program and our annual world-wide educational project.

How do I know that a donation is made to my organization after I make a purchase?

Each month you will see an updated total of donations made to your organization.  Because we respect the privacy of our patrons, we do not track specific purchases unless you have opted to enroll in our Change the Future program.  At this point, you will see a listing of all qualified purchases that have earned reimbursement credit as well as donations to your organizations.

How many students from our school/organization will be allowed to work for GIvingJoe?

There will be no specified limit or quota from any particular school/organization however; we will only employee the number of students our program can support.  This number will fluctuate depending on the number of organizations enrolled and/or the number of students that are in compliance with their roles and responsibilities.

What training/tools will you provide for students employed as Marketing Associates?

All of our Marketing Associates will receive the necessary sales and marketing tools including hands on training, materials for print and electronic distribution and online reporting.   Additionally, our staff will be available to answer questions and assist in supporting Organization relationships.

How long has GIvingJoe been in business? Who else is involved in the operation of this business?

GivingJoe is a grassroots startup founded by two high school seniors and has been in operation since November of 2008.  However, GIvingJoe is operated by Xtreme Endeavors, LLC and is backed by over 40 years of combined experience in sales, marketing, finance, technology and charitable fund-raising.

Are you in this for the money?

With over 80% of our profits being disbursed to our benefactors, it is fair to say we are not in this for the money.  Less than 20% of our profits are retained by GIvingJoe, however our students do earn an override to assist in funding their continuing education.  Once our students graduate and move on to their chosen careers, these funds are reinvested for other student Marketing Associates and/or distributed to students via merit based scholarships.

If I am a Marketing Associate for GivingJoe, can my younger brother or sister assume my accounts when I graduate?

While each student must apply and be accepted into the GivingJoe Marketing Associate program, we do give special consideration to siblings.  It is therefore possible for a family to pass accounts on to younger brothers or sisters.  All students, however, must fulfill the Marketing Associates requirements and maintain a 3.0 gpa while employed by GivingJoe.
